In 2012, Sasha DiGiulian became the first American woman to climb grade 9a (5.14d). In 2011, she finished three climbs of 5.14c (8c+), onsighted two of 5.14a (8b+) and four of 5.13d (8b). In 2015, she became the first woman to free climb Magic Mushroom (7c+), one of the most difficult routes on the north face of the Eiger.

Shauna Coxsey is mainly active in competition climbing and has participated in the world championships in bouldering. She won the 9th edition of the competition Melloblocco in 2012 and placed 2nd in the World Cup climbing 2012 steps during Log-Dragomer and Innsbruck. Coxsey was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 Birthday Honors for services to climbing.
